Welcome to Wellington Hills Golf & Country ClubYes it is true...Wellington Hills Golf Course has been sold. Actually our little golf course got caught up in a mitigation agreement between King County and Snohomish County. As part of the original mitigation agreement 30 million dollars was set aside for Parks and Recreation. Since Snohomish County was getting saddled with a sewage treatment plant they needed additional funds for projects that will enhance the community and benefit neighbors who live or work near the state of the art Brightwater Treatment plant site. Wellington Hills Golf Course has been a fixture in the community before this area was a community. It's a place where thousands of people have learned the game of golf and is the ideal course for a new player. It enhances the community and benefits the neighbors who live and work near the Brightwater Treatment plant...but, Snohomish County had to spend the money or risk giving it back, and they had to build a park or recreation area (remember, one that will enhance the community and benefit neighbors who...)close to the Brightwater facility. So what to do, what to do. Take the money from King County and purchase the golf course from the University of Washington. Replace a facility that enhances the community and benefits neighbors who live or work near the Brightwater Treatment plant and build soccer fields, ball fields and lacrosse fields that might enhance the community and benefit neighbors who live or work near the Brightwater Treatment plant. So, after 79 years as a facility that enhances the community and benefits neighbors who live or work near the golf course, Wellington Hills golf course will be no more. September 30th we will close for good. We are planning a full Spring and Summer full of events. If you haven't played golf before or haven't been to the course in a long time, review our events page and come out and visit. Help us celebrate the last summer of Wellington Hills Golf Course.
